What is the Government-in-Action Youth Tour?
Every June, as many as 1,500 high school students from across the country spend a week in the nation's capital as part of the National Rural Electric Cooperative Youth Tour. The students are sponsored by local electric cooperatives.
FANNIN COUNTY ELECTRIC COOPERATIVE 2023 GOVERNMENT IN ACTION – YOUTH TOUR
Eligibility Requirements
A contestant must:

Be a U.S. citizen.

Have completed grade 10, 11 or 12in high school by June 11, 2023.

Available to travel June 11-19, 2023

Have parent(s)/guardian(s) who are members of Fannin County EC and receive co-op service at their FCEC member, permanent, full-time residence.
Youth Tour contest winners who went on a previous trip are not eligible. Immediate family of co-op directors or employees are not eligible.
Essay Topic
What is the greatest energy issue facing your generation, and how can youths be a part of the solution?
Essay Format

Essays must be typed, double-spaced, in 12-point font on plain white, 8 ½ by 11-inch paper with 1-inch margins on all sides.

Essays should be 250-300 words.

Essays must include a bibliography that contains all sources.

Do not include your name on any portion of the essay.

Essays will be judged on content, grammar, originality and creativity.

Submit applications in person, email kwilliams@fcec.coop or mail.

Entries must be submitted by February 4th.
Finalist Selection
-
The top 2 contestants will be declared winners of the Youth Tour. They will be notified by February 15 2023

Two alternates will be chosen to attend in the event that one or more of the winners cannot attend the trip. They will be notified writing.
